Tennessee Titans Jevon Kearse arrested for DUI
Tennessee Titans defensive end Jevon Kearse was arrested and charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop near the Vanderbilt University campus early Sunday Morning.
Vanderbilt spokesman Jim Patterson said Kearse was stopped after campus police reported seeing his SUV speeding and swerving several times while traveling on West End Avenue. When he was stopped, Kearse exhibited slurred speech, red eyes and smelled of alcohol. Patterson says Kearse took a field sobriety test, but refused a breathalyzer. He was arrested and charged with DUI and violation of Tennessee’s implied consent law for failing to take the breathalyzer test.
He was originally drafted by the Titans 16th overall in the 1999 NFL Draft out of the University of Florida. Kearse spent his first five seasons with the Titans where he was a three-time Pro Bowl selection (1999, 2000, 2001) and the AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Years in 1999. In 2004, Kearse signed with Philadelphia playing for four seasons with the Eagles. After being released by Philadelphia, Kearse rejoined the Titans in March, signing a two-year deal worth $6 million.
At this stage, the Titans have made no comment. A spokesman for Kearse’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said Kearse had no comment.
